Parking Meters

There are parking meters in the area. Most meters are 8am-8pm; a few are 8am-6pm. All metered spaces are free on Sundays and holidays, including Martin Luther King, Jr Holiday (Arisia Monday). For vehicles showing handicapped placards or plates, meters are free and time limits are waived.. If there is a snow emergency, you may not be able to park your car on the streets and will be required to move it.

The city of Boston has an app called "ParkBoston" for Android and iOS that allows you to use your smartphone and a credit card to pay for parking at meters in most parts of Boston (and allows you to extend your stay). If you wish to use the app, you might want to download it and configure it while you're at home. You can also call (617) 635-2729 to pay by phone or browse to https://park.boston.gov/.

Cheaper Parking

If you're willing to drive to a parking garage or lot and then walk or ride the subway to get back, you can find cheap parking at Alewife (Red Line - Garage), Wellington Station (Orange Line - Lot and Garage), Wonderland (Blue Line) and Channelside (25 minute walk - Lot, $5 per weekend day), These lots are usually full on work days, but in the evenings and weekends they usually have lots of room.

You might be able to find a discounted parking rate if you reserve through a parking app such as BestParking or Parkopedia.

Bicycle Parking

Boston Common Garage has a bike cage for 40 bicycles (plus they say it has repair tools).  If you show up 7am-7pm, you can give them a $5 deposit for a key fob that allows you to park your bike for up to 72-hours per visit.

There also is a Blue Bikes (formerly Hubway) docking station near the Boston Park Plaza hotel (near where Park Plaza joins Charles St).  [Note, the Blue Bikes operators sometimes remove docking stations during the winter.]
